Michael Jagiello’s retirement party
 |
The AXIS team loves to party, especially surprise parties. So
when Mike Jagiello announced he was retiring this year, you couldn’t
see daylight for dust with all the “cahooting” going on in the
office. The surprise party was held at the Duxton Hotel in April,
with Mike and his family making their grand entrance in a secretly
organised stretch limo. We know there was lots of celebrating on the
way, by the number of Moet bottles clunking around on the floor!
Thanks to everyone who attended and helped to make Mike’s retirement
farewell such a wonderful evening. Special thanks also to those AXIS
team members who organised the night. |
Australia’s Biggest
Morning Tea - May 2007

|
There’s no
doubt about it, us Aussies love our tea and coffee and we don’t need
a special reason for down-downs. But, throw in a teaspoon of
goodwill for a charitable cause and we’ll be there with bells on!
For the fourth consecutive year, AXIS staff supported The Cancer
Council in its fight against cancer, by partaking in Australia’s
Biggest Morning Tea in May. Thanks to everyone who made a
contribution (and that WAS everyone!) and to those who brought in
delicious homemade yummies – all of which were consumed by the end
of morning tea. |

The 2007 WA Corporate Golf Challenge

 |
AXIS Financial Group is proud to be the joint sponsors of the
Inaugural 2007/08 WA Corporate Golf Challenge.
The Golf Challenge is held over a 12 month period, with teams
playing monthly at different golf courses. This gives the players an
opportunity to play at some of Perth’s finest and most challenging
golf courses.
The two teams for the June Golf Challenge were Richard Matsinger and
guest David Hewitt and Michael Jagiello and guest Alan Nelson. You
couldn’t have organised more random results if you tried. Richard &
David won on the day, while Michael and Alan received the NAGA
Award!! |
World
Masters Track Cycling Championships – Sydney – 16-21 October 2007
I'm sure you'll be keen to hear
about the fantastic results of WA team in Sydney recently for World
Masters Track Cycling Championships. With 424 competitors, and
smashing the record for entries in the history of the World Masters
track cycling championships, the competition was fierce. Every
opponent was serious about winning a medal and this produced some of
the most exciting and aggressive racing ever seen.
The Western Australian team
consisting of 14 riders came home with a 12 medal haul. I think I
lost count of how many times we were congratulated by other riders,
various officials and even the race caller. Every rider remained to
cheer on their team mates during racing and at the medal ceremonies,
even though this meant very long days and even longer nights. It was
certainly a privilege for me to be part of such a great team and to
be able to compete at such a high level.
Of course without the support of
our sponsors, Axis Financial Group, Murdoch University Chiropractic
Clinic, Prestige Honda, Fremantle Fish Farm and Bullion Express, the
task would have been much greater.
Also a special thank you to Bob
Barnes (appointed team mechanic) who may well have rolled out his
swag on the back straight where he constantly waited, race in - race
out, with a variety of spare wheels in case we had a mechanical and
Phil Nicholls (appointed team photographer) who patiently video
taped every WA riders race from the stands until he was almost
cross-eyed. I'm sure I speak for all the team in also thanking our
coaches, our long suffering family members and Daryl Benson and
Murray Hall for their ongoing support and assistance.
